My father is a chef and my mother is a food service director. The largest and most impressive event I have worked both cooking and serving was a catering for the Governor of Colorado in 2005. Hi my name is Jessica M. Sanchez. I am a hospitality major graduating in May of 2010. I plan to continue on to NMSU to receive my bachelors degree in Hospitality. I've lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico all my life. I hope to one day work for the Disney Cruise liner or a major company. I would like to utilize my management expertise in either I just need to finish school. I have two children in the age range of 10 and 7 and I would love to take them with me on that Cruise liner so I still would need to wait till they are much older and mature. For my presentation I will be working alongside a very good friend, Jessica Blaine. We will be making a German Onion Cake. We worked on it together in our baking class and it was a meal in its self. |

On February 24, 2010, Trudel and Hafid Abdelmoula and Malachi Doctor opened Shems and Authentic Moraccan Restaurant. They wanted to give Las Cruces a taste of their fragrant cuisine. Shems is located at the prior location of Casa Luna Italian at 1340 E. Lohman Avenu. This is where you will get your “Moroccan Therapy” according to the entrepreneurs. With great food and Moroccan atmosphere, you will feel like l you have been transported to Morocco. Hafid Abdelmoula who is from Morocco studied hospitality and worked at Moroccan Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot World Showcases where he met his wife who is an American Indian from Northern New Mexico and graduate of NMSU. Malachi Doctor is a photographer and marketing specialist who teamed up with the pair. The owners are constructing a Moroccan room that will create the setting of an traditional Moroccan seating and a Royal Feast that will include lamb, chicken and beef dishes with 15 different spices. The restaurant offers traditional Moroccan mint tea and also Moroccan coffee. On Friday and Saturday evenings we have belly dancers that add to our unique atmosphere. Come and experience your “Moroccan Therapy”!!! |
